Annual evolution of the number of level crossings in operation on the Infrabel network by region.A level crossing is a junction between a public or private road and one or more railway tracks. A grade crossing with active signalling warns of the approach and/or passage of trains. When cars, cyclists and pedestrians have to cross the tracks, there are always risks because a train can't stop like that. This is why Infrabel has been working for years to reduce the number of level crossings between railways and public roads.More information in the data on deleted level crossingsLevel crossings are no longer included in this data if:they are transferred to private partnersthe line has been decommissioned (in this case, the level crossing is also decommissioned).
