Earthquakes: Earthquake zones
Description
The map of earthquake zones and geological subsurface classes for Rhineland-Palatinate refers to DIN 4149:2005-04 "Buildings in German earthquake zones" Load assumptions, design and execution of civil buildings, published by the DIN Deutsches Institut für Normung e.V., Burggrafenstr. 6, D-10787 Berlin. Non-tectonic seismic induced events are not the subject of this presentation (DIN 4149:2005-04, Chapter 5.1). The earthquake zones are assigned Intensitätsintervals according to the Europäische Makroseismische Skala (EMS) and design values of the ground acceleration ag. The underlying reference recurrence period corresponds to a probability of occurrence or exceeding 10% within 50 years.
