Description

The dataset presents the inventory of underground cavities in Seine-Maritime (WGS 1984 Web Mercator). The cavities are of natural or anthropogenic origin and are sorted by type. Date of data: 2023. Data source: [Georisks](https://www.georisks.gouv.fr/) Underground cavities can affect soil stability. One of the major specificities of this problem, specific to land movements, is the ‘hidden’ dimension of the underground hazard, often invisible to populations and forgotten by all, especially when the cavities are old. The source data is provided in csv format by Georisks, a collaboration between the Ministry of Ecological Transition and Territorial Cohesion and the BRGM. This dataset is based on the inventory of underground cavities (BDCavities), managed and developed since 2001 by the [BRGM] (https://www.brgm.fr/), with the participation of Gustave Eiffel University, INERIS, CEREMA and the French Federation of Speleology. The BDCavité database is part of the natural risk prevention policy put in place since 1981, allowing the collection, analysis and restitution of basic information necessary for the knowledge and prior study of phenomena related to the presence of cavities. The BDCavité database memorizes all the information available in France in a homogeneous way and contributes to raising awareness, which falls within the role of the State in terms of risk prevention. The data has been adapted by Esri France. Metadata and a [documentation] (https://www.georisques.gouv.fr/risques/cavites-souterraines/) are available on the website. The source data provided in csv format has been transformed into localized points. Some cavities do not have geolocation coordinates and are not displayed on the map. Some data has been deleted due to incorrect geolocation. This layer of entities is offered by Esri France’s GeoData team. The data is optimised for use in the ArcGIS platform.
