impulse euro objective2

Summary: Objective 2 is a European Community structural fund initiative aimed at promoting the economic development and regeneration of disadvantaged regions and districts. The Objective 2 programme from 2000 to 2006 and financed by the 'European Regional Development Fund (ERDF)'. Like Objective 1, Objective 2 is a "regional" objective because its scope is limited to certain areas defined by precise statistical and socio-economic criteria. These are areas facing structural problems and Community assistance under this objective is therefore geared towards their socio-economic conversion. The zones to be taken into account are determined on the basis of: a population ceiling, specific criteria for each type of area. For example, a complete list of eligible regions has been drawn up.
