Stumbling stones

Stumbling stones (Stolperstein) are memorials placed in the sidewalk in front of the former home of victims of the Nazis. A stumbling block is a 10 by 10 cm vowel in which the name, date of birth, deportation and death of victims are engraved. It is a quiet memory in the footpath in front of the house where these people have lived. They make it clear where intolerance can lead. A stumbling block shows respect for each victim and is therefore crafted. Europe already has more than 100 000 stumbling blocks.
