(see also geodata portal - https://geoportaal.antwerpen.be/portal/home/search.html?q=use green , open geodata portal - http://portaal-stadantwerpen.opendata.arcgis.com/datasets?q=use green , quantified in city in figures - https://stadincijfers.antwerpen.be/Databank/Jive/?workspace_guid=5787ce1c-65da-4547-b0ab-19f0f4aa97c7 ) By use greenery and squares we mean: - publicly accessible greenery for use without surface restriction: parks, pocket parks, hanging greenery, fort greenery, dog walking area, city forest, play forest, cemetery, green playgrounds, publicly accessible building greenery - publicly accessible paved areas without surface limitation: squares, green squares, small street corner squares, sports grounds (NOT: roads, footpaths and cycle paths) This data layer is updated annually in January, provided that the facility is managed and updated annually by the relevant sector/service. In addition to the spatial distribution of facilities at neighborhood, district and district level, with this fine-meshed building block level, we want to draw attention to the importance of the immediate proximity (two minutes walk) of greenery, square or nature, this in function of climate and against heat stress. Important barriers (water, ring, highway, rail, etc.) and safe crossings for vulnerable road users (tunnels, bridges, pedestrian crossings with traffic lights) are also taken into account here.
