Description

The Council for Social Life (CVS) is a body of expression, mandatory for institutions for the elderly, people with disabilities and for institutions and services of assistance at work (ESAT). It allows users and their families to discuss their living, care and accommodation conditions12. Here is some important information to remember on the CVS: Missions and competences of the CVS:The CVS gives its opinion and proposes solutions to improve the daily life of people and the functioning of the establishment or services, in particular on:Internal organisation and daily life.Activities and socio-cultural animation.Therapeutic services.Use of collective premises, rooms and their maintenance.The nature and price of the services rendered.Measures taken to promote relations between users, residents and staff.Rehousing, etc.Role of the CVS:The CVS is an autonomous consultative body.It is a place of expression that allows users, residents and their families to communicate and exchange on all their living conditions, care and accommodation.The CVS is mandatory for establishments intended for the elderly, people with disabilities and for establishments and services of assistance at work (ESAT). Some child protection institutions (accommodating children over the age of 11) are also concerned.For other social and medico-social institutions and services (institutions for children and young people, institutions for accommodation, addiction, home services or legal guardians for the protection of adults, etc.), there is no obligation to set up a CVS, but they must offer other forms of participation.The CVS is independent of the management, with the exception of logistics (organisation of elections, sending of minutes, etc.).
