CZSO code list: Statutory City and Capital City of Prague (code 69)
Description
The Municipalities Act, e.g. the consolidated text of Act No. 128/2000 Coll., on Municipalities (municipal establishment), pursuant to Act No. 2/2003 Coll., of 13 January 2003, provides an exhaustive list of statutory cities whose activities are governed by the City Statute. Since July 12, 2002, there are 19 statutory cities in the Czech Republic. The territory of statutory cities may be divided into municipal districts or districts with their own self-governing bodies. A statutory city consists of one or more incoherent territories. The status of the capital city of Prague as the capital of the Czech Republic, the region and the municipality, as well as the status of the city districts, is regulated by the Act on the Capital City of Prague (e.g. Act No. 131/2000 Coll., on the Capital City of Prague, according to the amount 39 of 17 May 2000). The territory of the City of Prague consists of the cadastral areas listed in the annex to the above-mentioned Act. The territory of the capital city of Prague consists of one continuous territory.
