Description

The municipality is a basic territorial self-governing community of citizens; form a territorial unit, which is defined by the boundaries of the territory of the municipality (according to the wording of Act No 2/2003 Coll., which constitutes the full text of Act No 128/2000 Coll., on municipalities (municipal establishment), as it results from the amendments made by Act No 273/2001 Coll., Act No 320/2001 Coll., Act No 450/2001 Coll., Act No 311/2002 Coll., and Act No 313/2002 Coll.). Military uyezd (hereinafter referred to as "uyezd") is a defined part of the territory of the state designated for the provision of state defence and for the training of armed forces pursuant to Act No. 222/1999 Coll. on the provision of defence of the Czech Republic, Part Six, Section 30, paragraph 1. Ujezd forms a territorial administrative unit. Each part of the territory of the Czech Republic belongs to a municipality or uyezd, unless a special law provides otherwise. The territory of each municipality or district is part of a district (see Act of the Czech National Council No. 367/1990 Coll., on Municipalities and Municipal Establishments, Section 6, as amended). The village is given by the enumeration of the parts of the villages. The territory of municipalities and uyezds is given by the enumeration of cadastral areas. In some cases, however, the previously established boundary of the municipality is not yet precisely defined or some buildings extend over the cadastral territory of the neighbouring municipality. In these cases, the methodology distinguishes between territorial and administrative delimitations. The areas of municipalities and uyezds are composed into the respective district and completely cover it. A municipality or uyezd is situated in one or more cadastral areas or parts thereof and may be situated in more than one non-contiguous area.
