Security Incidents (EPSF) since January 2023
Description
This dataset presents the description and location of safety incidents according to the severity scale of the EPSF (Public Railway Safety Establishment) since January 2023.
Historically, the indicator for steering SEF (Safety of Rail Operations) events at SNCF was the number of Remarkable Safety Events (ESR), i.e. an event that puts at risk the physical integrity of persons or near railway installations under cover of a failure of the railway system (including staff, employees of service providers and subcontractors, etc.).
SNCF decided from January 2023 to follow the EPSF’s steering indicator in order to promote comparisons with all railway operators and promote a common vision of safety.
The severity scale of the EPSF consists of six levels:
1: Security “minor” event
2: Event that could have had minor material/injured consequences
3: Event that could have had individual human consequences
4: Event that could have had collective human consequences
5: Accident that has had significant consequences
6: Accident that has had serious consequences
The data is updated monthly for the previous month.
