Skåne's multi-core city structure
Description
The data set is produced for Regionplan för Skåne 2022-2040 and shows functionally important locations in Skåne categorized as growth engines, regional cores, central locations and strategic nodes. Growth engines play an important role in driving development and generating attractiveness for Skåne. They provide the region's inhabitants with jobs and a knowledge-intensive business sector, higher education, specialist medical care and a wide range of trade and culture. The central towns consist of Skåne's municipal capitals. In addition to being important as nodes for public transport, services and access to recreation, the centres are the focal point for public administration and political power. The regional cores are larger localities that are important for providing jobs, services and commercial and cultural offerings to their surroundings. Strategic nodes are a collective term to highlight smaller towns based on their importance for public and private services, public transport and access to recreation and tourism through their connection to Skåneleden and the regional tourist cycle routes.
