2001: Museums didn't have the name yet. They had the status of classified or controlled museum.
2002: Museum Act of January 2002. National museums and classified museums have automatically become museums in France.
2003: Controlled museums became museums of France – February 2003

The “Note” column: report: “F”: the museum is closed; “NC” MEANS: attendance has not been communicated; “R”: withdrawal of the name “Musées de France”.

Attention: Some sites communicate a cumulative attendance for all the museums of the site. The column “Observations” contains the references of museums whose attendance is cumulative (see column “Ref of the museum”).

From 2019, the identifier (ID MUSEOFILE) of the Museofile database has been added.
