**Composting bio-waste**
In Paris, organic waste still accounts for 22 % of the household waste in the green lid bin. Composting its biowaste makes it possible to recycle its kitchen and garden waste and naturally produce fertiliser for plantations.
By sorting and valuing its bio-waste at the source thanks to composting, we can reduce the weight of waste produced per year per capita by 77 kg!
** Composting, how does it work?**
Kitchen and garden waste is deposited in a dedicated bin for this purpose: the composter.
Over time, thanks to moisture, the addition of dry matter and the work of small animals that feed on the material to grow, as well as the regular brewing of the composter: the waste decomposes and transforms into compost.
The natural compost produced is reused as a free fertiliser for its apartment plants or as fertile soil for planters. We can also help to vegetate common green spaces.
**What waste composts?**
· fruit and vegetable peels
· food leftovers
· eggshells
· coffee Marc, tea bags
· paper filters
· towel-all
· shredded shredded boxes
· indoor plants
· dead leaves
· faded flowers
· plant residues...
**Some food and household waste cannot be composted:**
· citrus fruits
· garlic and shallot (which are deworming)
· fat (oil, butter...)
· cores
· meat and fish
