Arrondissements

Description

**The municipal district designates a partition of the commune of Paris.** **** Delimitation of districts: The imperial decree of 1 November 1859 established the names of the twenty arrondissements of the city of Paris. The communes of Lyon and Marseille also present an administrative organization in arrondissements. **Geographical and topological constraints:** A district consists of a single polygon. The graphic layer respects a topology of surfaces. Topological consistency is characterised by the absence of a ‘hole’ or ‘overlap’ between districts.
