Trees to be cut down for sanitary reasons and replacement species
Description
**Geographical data set showing trees soon felled for safety reasons.**
It is specified for each tree the reason for this decision (pathology, mechanical defect, etc.) as well as the essence of the tree intended as a replacement.
This dataset takes into account only the trees to be slaughtered for health reasons until they are replanted or up to 6 months after their felling.
The data was built from surveillance tours carried out since spring 2021.

A tree must be cut down when it poses a risk of falling or contamination of other trees.
Before it is slaughtered, it benefits from a complete diagnosis by forestry agents. Thus, less than 1.5 % of trees must be cut down and renewed each year.
In addition to human causes (circulation shocks, spills of polluting substances at the foot of the tree, etc.), trees can decay due to drought or succumb to pests, diseases, insects or lignivores fungi. Wounds caused by large shocks or sizes can become points of weakness; lignivores propagate rots at the roots, trunks, and even branches and degrade the mechanical strength of the tree.
Often, sick and fragile trees appear healthy in appearance. Symptoms of decline are not always observed from the outside because the sap circulates on the periphery of the trunk and the foliage can remain green. Some root rots can also weaken the tree at its base without visible external signs.
