Accidentology: victim base
Description
Data from the national application TRAxy (Information System of the National Interministerial Observatory for Road Safety (ONISR))
For each bodily accident (i.e. an accident on a road open to public traffic, involving at least one vehicle and causing at least one victim who required care), seizures of information describing the accident shall be made by the law enforcement unit (police, gendarmerie, etc.) which took place at the accident site. These seizures are collected in a fact sheet entitled Body Accident Analysis Bulletin. All these forms constitute the national register of road accidents known as the “BAAC file” administered by the National Interministerial Observatory of Road Safety “ONISR”.
Among the victims, we can distinguish:
· people killed: persons who die as a result of the accident, either immediately or within 30 days of the accident,
· injured persons: victims not killed.
Among injured people, it is worth differentiating:
· the so-called “hospitalised” wounded: hospitalised victims for more than 24 hours,
· minor injuries: victims who received medical attention but were not admitted to hospital for more than 24 hours.
