The museum collections of the Maison de Chateaubriand

The Chateaubriand House has a large museum collection of paintings, engravings, sculptures and works of art evoking the life, work and times of Chateaubriand. The writer’s figures are numerous, often inspired by the famous portrait painted by Anne-Louis Girodet-Trioson and whose modello was acquired by the Hauts-de-Seine Department in 2015. Others illustrate the writer’s stories or show him at different ages in his life, or caricature him.
These representations bear witness to the reputation of the politician and writer throughout the 19th century.
