Mortality from higher aerial-digestive tract cancer in men in the Basque Country (1996-2003)

Description

This grouping of causes of death (ICD-9: 140-150,161 and CIE10: C00-C15, C32)*, which includes cancers of the larynx, esophagus, pharynx and oral cavity, was selected for its relationship to smoking and alcohol abuse. Exposure to both factors has a multiplicative effect on the risk associated with exposure to each factor. The set of TADS locations caused men 3.8 % of total deaths. The territorial distribution of TADS cancer mortality in the CAPV was similar to that of lung cancer. The sections where the certainty of excess risk was higher are located in the regions of Gran Bilbao, Encartaciones and Donostia-San Sebastián
