Mortality from colon cancer in men in the Basque Country (1996-2003)

Description

Malignant colon tumors (CIE-9: 153 and CIE10: C18)* were responsible for 2.8 % of deaths. During the years 1990-2004 mortality from these tumors experienced an annual decrease of 2.3 %. The territorial distribution of the risk of death in the CAPV showed excess risk sections in the regions of Greater Bilbao and Plentzia-Mungia. A large extension of sections with relative risk below the CAPV average stretched from the regions of Gernika-Bermeo, Markina-Ondarroa and Bajo Deba to Rioja Alavesa.
