Plates of the Napoleonic cadastre
Description
The cadastre is a tool composed of **plans** (atlas) and **registers** to determine the distribution of the tax according to the nature of the property. As early as 1807, Napoleon I prescribed the making of a parcel cadastre for each of the communes of France, the realisation of which will extend throughout the first half of the 19th century. The “Napoleonian cadastre” will remain in force until the completion in the 20th century of the renovated cadastre, prescribed by the law of April 16, 1930.
The Napoleonic parcel atlas is a photograph of the soil taken at the time of the cadastre development. **The** **marking evolutions** (changes in ownership, parcel divisions, road creations, building constructions, etc.) ** are not reported on plans**; they are only included in the registers.
