International survey PIRLS 2016
Description
The data set contains national data (for the Czech Republic) from the international survey PIRLS 2016 focused on reading literacy of pupils in the 4th grade of elementary school. Fifty countries and economies were involved in PIRLS 2016, including the Czech Republic, where the investigation was carried out through the Czech School Inspectorate. PIRLS stands for Progress in International Reading Literacy Study. The survey is organized by the International Association for the Evaluation of Educational Outcomes.
The data set consists of records containing pupils' answers to questions in the pupil questionnaire and corresponding test values for each pupil.
Each record corresponds to data related to an individual pupil. Differentiated (but pseudonymised) are the different schools and classes involved. The values in columns ASBG01 to ASBR20F and ASXG12F to ASXR24E correspond to the questions of the pupil questionnaire PIRLS 2016. From the fifth position, the column titles contain the number of the question in the pupil questionnaire (e.g. ASBG01, ASBG07A). If there is an X in the column name at the third position (e.g. ASXG12F), this is the national item used only in the Czech version of the questionnaire.
The values in columns ASRREA01 to ASRIBM05 correspond to the pupil test values (score achieved). Analytically, it is necessary to work with five values for each area.
