Metropolitan and affiliated cultural facilities

Cultural sites operated by Clermont Auvergne Métropole and community facilities of proximity (ECP) built by the Métropole but co-financed and managed by the municipalities, as well as a public equipment for cultural cooperation (EPCC).

Clermont Auvergne Métropole owns and/or operates 44 sites spread over the 21 municipalities of the territory. For artistic teaching, she manages the Conservatoire à Rayonnement Régional and mainly finances the École Supérieure d’Art de Clermont Métropole. In public reading, the Métropole manages the network of media libraries composed of 15 libraries and media libraries, two specialised libraries (Bibliothèque du patrimoine and Centre de documentation du short-film/La Jetée), as well as ancillary libraries and bibliobuses. The future metropolitan library of the Hôtel-Dieu, under construction, will eventually complete the network. Under its competence museums and heritage, the Metropolis manages the 3 museums of France of the territory (beautiful arts at the Musée d’Art Roger-Quilliot, archaeology/textile at the Bargoin Museum, natural history and sciences at the Henri-Lecoq Museum) as well as 3 museums of society (Vigne et Vin, Résistance and Batellerie). In the field of music and image, where she particularly intervenes, Clermont Auvergne Métropole has meshed up the territory of equipment dedicated to artistic practice, in direct management (the imagO poles), in connection with structuring associations (workshops of contemporary artists in the Diode) or in communal management (rehearsal facilities in the ECPs). Other local communal facilities have finally specialised in the dissemination of live performances or the reception of music schools. All these facilities support the axes of inter-communal cultural policy, within the framework of its competences and fields of intervention.
