Geolocation of hives – City of Clermont-Ferrand

Description

The City of Clermont-Ferrand has 10 hives: 4 in the parks of Montjuzet, 2 in the Centre of Theix and 4 in the Parc du Creux de l’Enfer.

Since 2010, the City and UNAF (Union nationale de l’apiculture française) are bound by a convention for the installation, monitoring and operation of apiaries. Through this partnership, the City is committed to the “Bee, environmental sentinel” operation in order to raise awareness among Clermonts of the essential role of bees in maintaining biodiversity.

Since 2016, the city has been labeled “APIcité®: 2 bees” for its exemplary approach thanks to its local policy on the protection of pollinators

A professional beekeeper follows and manages the city’s hives throughout the year. Honey from the hives and harvested in public during the national APIdays days that take place on the 3 rd Saturday of June at the Halle gourmande St Pierre in Clermont-Ferrand. The harvested honey is offered by the City at various events.
