Oceanographic observations - Baltic Sea Ice Code

Description

Purpose: The Baltic Sea Code is used to briefly describe the ice conditions in shipping lanes, port areas and important passages for shipping. This dataset contains data for Swedish waters from the 1987/1988 season onwards. The Baltic Sea Code is used in addition to ice maps and clear text reports to inform shipping about ice conditions in more detail. The Baltic Sea Code is made up of four digits representing ice concentration, ice thickness, topography and sailing conditions. Unit: 4-digit code, see code table in link below.
