SE.SR Algae surface collection

Description

DESCRIPTION The maps show the bloom of cyanobacteria detected from satellite data. The bloom can be detected from satellite when it is on or near the surface of the sea. A flowering that is unclear or difficult to see because it is below the surface is defined as "Risk of surface accumulation", while a "Surface accumulation" defines the areas where flowering has been concentrated on the surface. Areas where clouds obscure the view are shown in grey, and areas where satellite data is missing are denoted by black. NB! Maps from 2002 - 2009 have a different designation for the algal blooms. See legend in current map. Since the satellite can not see the blooms through clouds, there is also a compilation of the last 7 days. This image shows the number of days blooming has been observed in the last 7 days, which can be of great benefit when an algal bloom has been going on for some time and the area then becomes cloudy. The chance is then high that the algal bloom is under the cloud cover but that it can not be detected from satellite. DELIVERY Daily maps (png) with accompanying texts (json), or weekly summaries (png) can be downloaded for one year at a time.
