SE.OF Oceanographic observations - Wave direction, mean
Description
Purpose: Observe the direction of ocean waves and improve wave models. Assimilation and validation of models.
Unit: Degrees to 1 decimal place.
Characteristics: The wave direction is defined as the direction from which the waves come. The measurement is done from buoys near the coast and at sea. Average Wave Direction (VDIR) is the average of the direction of the waves over 30 minutes.
Wave direction at Tp (VPED) is the direction of the waves where the energy is greatest for 30 minutes. A value per hour is obtained.
Quality codes: Green (G) = Verified and accepted values. Yellow (Y) = Roughly controlled values, suspicious or aggregated values. Orange (O) = Uncontrolled values
Boundaries: 0-360 degrees
