Biogeographical regions of the Autonomous Community of Aragon
Description
Biogeographic regions identify large tracts, sometimes continental in type, in which plant species have a number of common similarities. The common characteristics of climate, soil, vegetation, etc. entail common features that are grouped within these large biogeographical regions, giving a particular and common imprint to their territories and landscapes.
In the case of Aragon, due to its orography and its relationship of continuity and proximity with different biogeographical domains, two regions appear, the Eurosiberian region (Alpine Province) that covers the most mountainous areas of the Pyrenees, linking with the outer foothills of the same, as is the case of the Sierra de Guara, and the Mediterranean region, with different provinces, which dominates in the rest of the Aragonese territory, and in much of Spain, of which only the northern end coincides with the same region as the Aragonese Pyrenees.
