SF6 releases of TENs by year and type of releases
Description
SF6 is a synthetic gas used by the electrical industry as an insulator, especially in metal envelope substations (PSEM), as it allows for high compactness, as well as in overhead circuit breakers. A powerful greenhouse gas, its warming power is 23500 times that of CO2. Releases of SF6 may be due to accidental leaks on appliances, aging of installations, maintenance operations or removal of equipment at the end of life.
This dataset presents the annual data since 2014 of releases of SF6 in tonnes and in CO2 equivalent by type of discharge (material damage, circuit breakers in operation, PSEM in operation, maintenance interventions).
