Total and incidental logging in the regions
Description
In the context of forest management, in addition to deliberate harvesting planned by forest management plans or forest management syllabus, incidental harvesting is also carried out. Incidental logging is most often used in calamities caused by a variety of abiotic and biotic factors, often triggered by ongoing climate change (e.g. wind, insect wet snow, glacier or drought). The volume of salvage harvesting is an important indicator of the ecological stability of forest ecosystems, the extent of which largely depends on the state of health and on the appropriate species and age composition of the stand.
