Geological risks - industrial areas

Description

Industrial sites where substances harmful to the environment have been or are being handled in the past or where an activity has been carried out which may have adversely affected the environment. There is a risk of contamination of building structures, soils and groundwater with organic and inorganic substances. The type of potential contamination depends on the production activity carried out on the site or its use. The most common contaminants are petroleum substances, chlorinated aliphatic hydrocarbons (ClU), monocyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (benzene, toluene, ethylbenzene, xylenes, styrene, phenols), polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs), polychlorinated biphenyls (PCBs) and metals (e.g. Cd, Cr, Cu, Hg, Pb, Zn). An industrial site can also be a source of transit contamination that migrates in the direction of groundwater flow and beyond the boundaries of the site. Potential contaminants are currently handled in accordance with current environmental regulations and releases of these substances occur exceptionally. Demonstrated contaminations are mainly a remnant of previous production activities, so they are mostly so-called old environmental burdens. In the event of a transfer of ownership of land on the sites of these areas, or of construction works under preparation with intervention in the land, it is recommended to carry out a survey of the pollution of the rock environment or a risk analysis. The data includes the current and original name or owner of the site (the actuality is not guaranteed), cadastral area, location (address), a brief description of the use of the site in the past and present, bibliographic references to reports related to the site (ecological audits, risk analyses, survey reports), or scanned water law decisions on groundwater management - permits for pumping groundwater (these permits are also attached to hydrogeological objects in the data set "Hydrogeological wells and wells", if the documents could be assigned to specific pumped objects), permits for infiltration of rainwater into the rock environment or decisions on remediation measures. The data are part of the passport of geology, hydrogeology and engineering geology (now Georisks) of the city of Brno, which was created in 2004 and is always updated by an external company at the end of the year. General was created for employees of the authorities who professionally comment on investment projects, project documentation or issue decisions according to the relevant laws (Building Act, Water Act). It is now also used by contributory organizations (e.g. KAM) and provided as a basis for the processing of studies commissioned by the Statutory City of Brno (SMB).
