Ecological focus area from SIGEC 2020 according to Directive 2021/2116/EU

Description

Ecological focus areas (EU 1306/2013 - EU 1307/2013) contribute to maintaining biodiversity in Wallonia. The ecological focus areas included in the Land Parcel Identification System (LPIS) are as follows: - one-off items: - isolated trees (woody) - fruit trees (woody) - linear elements: - hedges and aligned trees (woody) - ditches (wet) - surface elements - groves or group of trees (woody) - ponds (wet) - fallow (grassy) - Melliferous fallows (grassy) - Field edge strips (grassy) The Paying Agency of Wallonia consolidates the ecological focus areas declared on the basis of aerial orthophotographs taken annually throughout Wallonia. Automatic findings are generated when there is a discrepancy between the farmer's declaration and the item registered in the identification system for agricultural parcels. Ecological focus areas are agricultural areas on or adjacent to arable land. Each element of the landscape bears a unique identification. Each element corresponds to a coefficient of conversion and/or weighting which makes it possible to assign it an area. The landscape elements are published in order to meet the EU Regulation 2023/138. However, the official source remains the copy managed and held by the Paying Agency of Wallonia.
