Bathymetry - Relief of the waterbed of Walloon waterways
Description
This raster data layer presents the topography of waterways and reservoir dams in Wallonia in a Hillshade version.
The pixel value is the altitude expressed in mDNG.
The resolution of these rasters is 50cm and the accuracy of the data is less than 10cm in the 3 directions.
This layer is produced by the Directorate of Hydrological Management (SPW Mobility Infrastructures) as part of dredging works (carried out in waterways) and inspections of engineering structures (including reservoir dams). It does not therefore concern the entire Walloon hydrographic network.
These data are acquired using a multibeam sonar mounted on a vessel.
This data is necessary to monitor and manage the morphological evolution of inland waterways with a view to ensuring continued navigability at full capacity, i.e. ensuring sufficient depth (draught) for the passage of vessels.
This is a composite image obtained by integrating different surveys carried out over a period of about 4 years.
Particular attention needs to be paid to the fact that the topography of waterways is constantly changing. The bathymetric data is therefore the picture of the situation at the time of the survey. Consequently, this data is only disseminated for informational purposes and can only be interpreted as it stands in any use under the sole responsibility of the user.
