Protected Designations of Origin (PDOs) and Protected Geographical Indications (PGIs) of Castile and León
Description
Protected Designations of Origin (PDOs) and Protected Geographical Indications (PGIs) are the tool used in the European Union for the recognition of a differentiated quality in agricultural and food products, wines, liqueurs and aromatized wines, helping to highlight the qualities and traditions associated with them and assuring consumers that they are genuine products, not imitations that seek to benefit from the good name and reputation of the original. The products that are protected by the Protected Designation of Origin (PDO) are those whose quality or characteristics are mainly due to the geographical environment with its natural and human factors and whose production, processing and elaboration is always carried out in that demarcated geographical area from which they take the name. Products with a Protected Geographical Indication (PGI) possess a certain quality or reputation or other characteristic that can be attributed to a geographical origin and whose production, processing or working takes place in the demarcated geographical area from which it also takes its name. The names, official documents and detailed urls of all PDOs and PGIs in Castilla y León are included in the dataset.
