Description

The environmental impact assessment (EIA) is the process through which the significant effects that projects have or may have, before their authorization on the environment, are analyzed, including in this analysis the effects of those on the following factors: population, human health, flora, fauna, biodiversity, geodiversity, land, soil, subsoil, air, water, climate, climate change, landscape, material goods, including cultural heritage, and the interaction between all the aforementioned factors. There are two types of environmental impact assessment, ordinary and simplified. The Ordinary Environmental Impact Assessment (EAEO), which will be carried out according to the procedure established in articles 33 to 44 of Law 21/2013, of December 9, on environmental assessment. The environmental impact statement is a mandatory and determining report of the environmental body with which the ordinary environmental impact assessment ends, which evaluates the integration of environmental aspects in the project and determines the conditions that must be established for the adequate protection of the environment and natural resources during the execution and exploitation and, where appropriate, the cessation, dismantling or demolition of the project. It will be published in the Official State Gazette or corresponding official journal without prejudice to its publication in the electronic headquarters of the environmental body.
