Documentary backgrounds. ISAD Tokens

Description

Documentary archives are described using the International Standard for Archival Description, known as the ISAD Standard. The description of each documentary grouping is set out in an ISAD sheet containing the essential information of that documentary grouping. The mandatory fields of the standard and from which we obtain basic and substantial information about the unit of description are: reference code (indicating its location in the archive), title (the name of this grouping of documents), dates covered, level of description (if we are describing an entire collection of documents or smaller parts of it), volume (number of boxes, books, etc. that make up the unit of description), medium (if it is paper, parchment, photographs, digital medium, etc.) and producers (the persons or institutions that generated or accumulated the documents). The following fields are provided in this dataset: Title, type of documentary background, file, reference code, initial/final date, level of description, volume and support of the description unit, name of the producer, institutional history and biographical review, archival history, form of entry, scope and content, valuation, selection and deletion, new income, organization, conditions of access, conditions of reproduction, language/writing of the documentation, physical characteristics and technical requirements, instruments of description, existence and location of the originals, existence and location of copies, related description units, books or articles published on the background, observations of the archivist, additional information, rules or standards, date of description and last revision.
