Geology of the Principality of Asturias
Description
Digital geological maps of the Principality of Asturias prepared within the framework of a collaboration agreement signed with the Geological and Mining Institute of Spain (IGME).
- Scale 1:25,000: includes Geological, Geomorphological and Active Process Mapping of the Principality of Asturias at a scale of 1:25,000 in sheets No 28-I, 28-II, 28-III and 28-IV.
- Scale 1:50,000: integrates the geological maps made in two successive cartographic projects that cover two large geological units of the Hesperian Massif and that make up most of the territory of Asturias: a) the Astur-Western-Leonese Zone of the Varisco Massif (GEODE ZAOL), and b) the pre-Permian outcrops of the Cantabrian Zone of the Iberian Massif and the Permian, Mesozoic and Tertiary materials (GEODE ZC). The easternmost extemus of the Asturian region is completed by a small sector of the Basque-Cantabrian Zone.
