Master Plan Metropolitan Bike of Rennes Métropole

Description

This layer of polylines describes the bike routes of Rennes Métropole’s bike master plan. This is a regularly updated layer, which therefore shows changes compared to the initial state of the Bicycle Master Plan (2018). These schematic data are intended to be used on small scales (1:50 000th). These data are used to know in a schematic way the state of the existing cycle links and to draw up the maps of the cycle master plan. The draft links are therefore included. The metropolitan bike master plan is not intended to replace local bike plans but to complement them. The main links constitute the Express Vélo Network. Secondary links = cycle links of an intercommunal nature or to serve structuring equipment, major exchange hubs or major activity areas beyond the Express Vélo Network. On this network, the objective is to ensure continuity of route through various developments (developments dedicated to cycles or not) by making maximum support on existing roads and paths. Where conditions are appropriate, the possible use of shared roads is one of the possible solutions (subject to condition). Alternative links = alternative cycling routes to connect 2 communes between it while waiting for the development of + direct, + safe, + comfortable links. In some cases, the link may nevertheless justify the implementation of small adjustments and/or ad hoc improvements to meet the needs. Routes not retained = itineraries envisaged but ultimately not selected because they were considered incompatible and/or inappropriate with the objectives of the metropolitan bike master plan, or constituting a duplicate with other links. The layer also contains (non-exhaustive) information on the state of the routes: realised, to be improved, to create which are updated at regular intervals according to the progress of the projects. Ad hoc updates may be made to take into account the realisation of projects or new requests.
