Cycling facilities in Rennes Métropole
Description
This layer of lines locates the cycling facilities carried out on the territory of Rennes Métropole.
Below is a definition of the different types of cycling facilities present in the data layer:
\- Cycling strips: They are on the roadway. They are marked by a road marking, a continuous or discontinuous line, and a bicycle pictogram makes it possible to see that they are lanes reserved for cyclists and adapted to their mode of circulation. A bicycle strip has no physical separation and is on the same level as the roadway.
\- Cycle paths: These are protected areas of motor vehicles, which can be installed on sidewalks or on pavement with a physical separation of the roadway (land full, obstacle or parking). The track may be elevated (at the sidewalk height) or at the level of the roadway
\- Chaucidou: Plain central roadway without axial marking whose shorelines are close to its axis.
Principle: Motorised vehicles run on a two-way central lane and cyclists on the coated shoulders called shores. The width of the lane open to motor vehicles is insufficient to allow crossing. The latter therefore occasionally cross the shore when they cross each other, previously checking the absence of cyclists and, failing that, slowing down.
\- Greenway: Autonomous means of communication (= roadway in its own right) reserved for non-motorised journeys, such as pedestrians and bicycles, subject to a traffic stop and identified by sign.
\- Rev (Express Bicycle Network): Secure, continuous and identifiable bi-directional links connecting Rennes and the 15 municipalities of the first metropolitan crown.
\- Mixed pedestrian-bike design: Layout with cycle and pedestrian traffic, without physical separation between pedestrian and cycle, usually indicated by bicycle and pedestrian pictograms on the ground. It can meet when space is constrained and pedestrian flows and bicycles are not important.
Note that Meeting Zones and Zones 30 are not represented in this layer (see the Traffic Speed layer on Rennes Métropole – UUID = c30724a3-4078-4441-bbf7-bc1d9da8991f).
Among the available attributes:
\- type_accommodation = Type of cycle development (e.g.: bicycle strip, unidirectional track, bidirectional track...);
\- position = Development position (e.g.: On sidewalk, on pavement, clean site adjoining...);
\- shore = Development position (e.g.: Right, Left, Right and Left);
\- annee_mes = Year of commissioning of the development;
\- useful_width = useful width of the layout;
\- type_revet = type of flooring of the layout (e.g. Coated, Sablé...);
\- transitional = Indicates by Yes or No if the development is transitional.

The database covers cycling developments in metropolitan areas. It was created in 2022 by the Directions of Roads and Mobility/Transport by census of the existing one, in particular by noting the presence of vertical and horizontal signs. It is intended to be readjusted by the services of the Highways in the course of the improvements implemented.
