Air Quality – Benzene Level (C6H6) in Pays de la Loire
Description
Hourly, daily, monthly and annual mean concentrations of benzene (C6H6) in ambient air, resulting from the permanent network of measurements in the Pays de la Loire region.
The measurement of ambient air quality is carried out in accordance with the recommendations of the business standard of the Central Air Quality Monitoring Laboratory (LCSQA), in compliance with the regulatory requirements in force. These requirements cover the entire measurement chain, both in terms of location criteria for measuring sites, choice of analytical methods used, monitoring of metrological compliance of the measurement process, validation and aggregation of measurement data.
To produce this data in particular, Air Pays de la Loire implements automated benzene concentration measurement systems in accordance with standard NF EN 14662-3, using the gas chromatographic analysis method. The latter are located in on-site measuring stations, combined with measurement data acquisition systems, which they aggregate in average quarter-hours. These raw data are then teletransmitted to the central computer server, then valued at different levels of aggregation (technical and environmental validations). Validated quarter-hour data are thus aggregated into hourly averages, which are themselves aggregated into daily, monthly or annual averages.
The layer of information produced is available for operation on a scale ranging from 1/250 000th to 1/10 000th and can be categorised by station typology:
Traffic station: 1/10 000
Bottom station: 1/30000 (urban) to 1/250000 (rural)
Industrial station: 1/100 000
