(ZNIEFF) Natural Areas of Ecological, Faunistic and Floristic Interest Type I in Pays de la Loire

Description

Natural Zones of Ecological, Faunistic and Floristic Interest Type I (Second Generation updated as part of the permanent inventory). The sectors that may be affected cover the entire national, land, river and marine territory (including overseas departments). They must be of particular ecological interest, in particular because of the balance or richness of the ecosystems they constitute, the presence of rare and endangered plant or animal species. **Origin** Scan on screen on SCAN25 background. The ZNIEFF inventory is carried out at the regional level by specialists whose work is validated by the Regional Scientific Council for Natural Heritage (CSRPN) appointed by the regional prefect. The data are then transmitted to the National Museum of Natural History by the DIREN (in charge of the technical, administrative and financial coordination of the inventory at regional level) for assessment and integration into the national computerised file. Regions may be involved in the conduct of this inventory as part of their competences. In addition, local and regional authorities can contribute to knowledge of the natural heritage by carrying out local inventories. The prefect of the region, the prefects of departments and the other local authorities concerned are informed of these developments. The inventory is conducted under the scientific responsibility of the MNHN. When drawing up a plan, programme or project, the prefect shall communicate to the municipality or the competent public institution of inter-municipal cooperation any information contained in the inventory relevant to such preparation.
