(SRCE) Corridors valleys providing connections between biodiversity reservoirs in Pays de la Loire

Description

This table lists the different valley corridors that provide connections between reservoirs of biodiversity, offering species favourable conditions for their movement and the completion of their life cycle. (Article R. 317-19 III of the Environmental Code).The regulations allow that not all biodiversity reservoirs are necessarily connected by ecological corridors (Article R. 317-19 II of the Environmental Code). This case should be limited and mainly concern biodiversity reservoirs with regard to:a) the relevance of connecting or maintaining the natural isolation of these spaces (in particular: cases of isolation to prevent the spread of invasive alien species or potential health problems posed by wildlife carrying diseases that can be transmitted to domestic species (e.g. swine fever) or even humans (e.g. rabies); b) an issue of preservation of certain areas that constitute an ecological network in “not Japanese” for associated species (e.g.: ponds and lakes, ponds, peatlands) or some areas not connected today but that can serve tomorrow as a “relay” or a new point of the ecological mesh of the territory (faced with changes such as climate change, the evolution of the range, fires, the disappearance of reservoirs via a development project...). Origin According to the method specific to each region and the quality of delimitation (geographical or schematic), the geometry must correspond to the geometric shape of the object represented on the SRCE mapping while ensuring the rules of ecological continuity that dictate the cutting. In particular, interregionality should be managed by not dividing the object into administrative boundaries to improve the understanding of interregional ecological continuities. 24/11/2015: Amendment following the public inquiry
