(Sage) Areas of application of the Planning and Water Management Plans in Pays de la Loire
Description
The SAGE is a planning document aimed at ensuring a balanced management of the water resource. In particular, it determines the general objectives for the use, development and quantitative and qualitative protection of water resources and aquatic environments. It can cover both surface and groundwater. The SAGE is composed of a Plan d’Aménagement et de Gestion Durable (PAGD) for water resources and a regulation.
The PAGD contains guidelines and provisions against all administrative decisions taken in the field of water. The Regulation, for its part, contains rules aimed at regulating the use of water.
The preparation of the SAGE is entrusted to the Local Water Commission and is based on a consultation process. It brings together elected officials, representatives of consular chambers and environmental protection associations, as well as representatives of State departments.
The SAGE must be compatible with SDAGE.
