Description

The annual statistics refer to children born alive as well as declarative judgments of birth. The place of birth is the home of the mother and not the place of birth. The statistics are compiled on the basis of the civil status statistical bulletins drawn up by the mayors, at the time and in the municipality where the births take place and the transcripts of the declaratory judgments of birth drawn up by the courts. From the 2019 vintage, the field has been expanded to the department of Mayotte. From now on, the statistics cover events in France for all metropolitan municipalities and overseas departments, including the department of Mayotte.
