List of the 25994 soldiers of Loire-Inférieure who died for France during the First World War, made available on the occasion of the commemorations of the centenary of the conflict as part of the program “The Loire-Atlantique remembers”.

The Virtual Memorial is a collaborative database of intelligence on the department’s fighters who died for France during the first world conflict. It was made from the information on the lists of the “Golden Book” written by Émile Gabory in 1923 supplemented by individual or collective census and analysis work (associations, town halls). This work is coordinated and controlled by the Loire-Atlantique Departmental Archives.The Virtual Memorial, which aims to completeness, can always be enriched. There are still blank fields of intelligence that can be completed, especially from public sources such as soldiers’ records (archives.loire-Atlantique.fr), or other sources available on the Internet. In addition, documents of private origin – photographs or digitised written documents – can be combined with the sheets to give more human thickness to this monument to the virtual dead still being created.
