Territories labeled “City and Country of Art and History”
Description
The label “City and Country of Art and History” qualifies territories that, aware of the challenges posed by the appropriation of their architecture and heritage by the inhabitants, are committed to an active approach of knowledge, conservation, mediation and support to the architectural quality and the living environment.
The label is awarded by the Ministry of Culture on the advice of the National Council of Cities and Countries of Art and History.
Four main criteria apply to the award of the label:
* a real political commitment of the applicant communities to make culture, architecture and heritage a local development project;
* a relevant scope defined on the basis of criteria of historical, geographical, demographic and cultural coherence;
* the means used by the community to ensure the knowledge, conservation, protection and valorisation of the landscape, architecture and heritage as well as the ability to respect over time the commitments related to the award of the label in material, financial and human terms;
* the explicit declination of the project in local policies led by communities.
For each territory, the following shall be mentioned:
* the siren code,
* the wikidata identifier,
* the name and type of establishment or community,
* geographical data (point and perimeter),
* the website,
* the Facebook page, Twitter and Instagram accounts,
* Wikipedia page.
This dataset is based on the [Ministry of Culture data](https://www.culture.gouv.fr/Aides-demarches/Protections-labels-et-appellations/Label-Ville-et-Pays-d-art-et-d-histoire “Ministry of Culture data \(new window\)”) updated in June 2019.
