Via Garona Chemin de Grande Randonnée GR861

Description

**Via Garona** is a 170 km long hiking trail that connects the sites of Santiago de Compostela between Toulouse (Basilique Saint-Sernin) and Saint-Bertrand-de-Comminges (Cathédrale Sainte-Marie). It crosses 41 communes, all located in the Haute-Garonne department, including Toulouse, Muret, Noé, Rieux-Volvestre, Martres-Tolosane, Saint-Martory, Saint-Gaudens and Saint-Bertrand-de-Comminges. ![](/assets/theme_image/ViaGarona-02-1600x1000px.jpg) This route, officially approved as route de **Grande Randonnée** **(GR®861)** by the National Hiking Federation, makes it possible to link two jacquaire paths, the GR®653 _voie d'Arles_ and the GR®78 _voie du Piedmont_.
