The cycle routes of the Haute-Garonne

Description

This dataset proposes the routes of cycling routes made under the project management of the Haute-Garonne Departmental Council. The Department of Haute-Garonne adopted its Master Plan of Cyclable Routes (SDIC) in 1997, revised in 2012, which defines in particular the structuring cycle routes. The latter are based on routes with the following characteristics: * **strong level of security:** paths suitable for a family audience, * **tourist attraction,** * **comfort:** quality coatings and low gradients. * * * * This master plan includes the following structuring axes: * _** The channel axis (V80):**_ Canal du Midi, Canal de Garonne and Rigole de la Plaine, * _ **Trans-Garona Cycling Route (V83),**_ * _ **the Salat Valley (V81),**_ * _ **the valley of the Arise.**_ _ **channel axis (V80)**_ * **the Canal du Midi**: its linear without difference, built over 49 km, was inaugurated in 1990, between Toulouse and Port-Lauragais (limit with the department of Aude), * **the Canal de Garonne**: its linear without difference, built over 21 km, was inaugurated in 2002, between Toulouse and Saint-Rustice (limit with the department of Tarn-et-Garonne, * **the Rigole de la Plaine**: route linking Lake Lenclas (Saint-Félix-Lauragais) to Revel, then Lake Saint-Ferréol, inaugurated in 2008. In total 17.2 km with a steep elevation (17 %) between Revel and Lake Saint-Ferréol. Along the Rigole, the compacted sand coating does not allow the use of rollers. _** The Trans-Garona Cycling Route (V83)**_ This route is currently arranged for about 107 km between Cierp-Gaud and Carbonne. It was completed in 4 instalments from 2005 to 2009. It will eventually connect Toulouse to the sources of the Garonne and the Val d’Aran. It is a shared route, with sections in its own site (green lanes), when their realisations have been possible. [**Link to Trans-Garona website.**](https://trans-garona.eu/fr) _**The cycle route of the Salat Valley (V81)**_ Supporting part of the cycle route of Piedmont Pyrenees (V81), this route, without elevation, was developed in 2 slices (2019 and 2020) from Roquefort-sur-Garonne to Salies-du-Salat, then from His to Castagnède on the right-of-way of an old railway, for a linear of 12.5 km. This route is therefore for the moment discontinuous at the height of Mane. _**Valley of the Arise**_ Connected to the cycle route Trans-Garona from Carbonne, this 11.3 km route, between Carbonne and Montesquieu-Volvestre, runs along the 637 departmental road equipped with bike strips since 2005.
