Categories of roads in the Departmental Master Plan of Haute-Garonne

Description

The classification of departmental roads in the Departmental Master Plan is based on **3 distinct categories** which are differentiated by the intensity of traffic and major links between polarities. The **1st category constitutes the structuring axes** of the department of Haute-Garonne supporting sustained traffic throughout the year. These traffic lanes make it possible to connect the main cities with each other. These axes have significant lane widths, sometimes on 4 lanes. This 1st category represents a total length of 629 kilometers. The **2nd category, the mesh network**, concerns the department’s mesh axes. They support more moderate traffic and make it possible to connect medium-sized cities to each other. The pavements are narrower. All of its lanes correspond to 979 kilometers. The **3 rd category concerns local service routes allowing proximity service**. These voices have varying pavements. This category alone represents 4533 kilometres of linear roads, the ¾ of the Haute-Garonne departmental road network.
