Carpooling areas in Haute-Garonne

Description

This game offers data on the car-sharing areas arranged and secured, made available to users, throughout the department of Haute-Garonne. Name of the areas, name of the municipalities where the areas are deployed, identifying roads, number of parking spaces and number of parking spaces reserved for people with reduced mobility (PRM), location... These car-pooling areas were created at the initiative of the Haute-Garonne Department on sites within the departmental domain, following a survey of motorists and consultation with associative and institutional partners. Launched in March 2018, this carpooling scheme meets a high expectation of users to facilitate their travel, save money by sharing the costs while saving time on commuting. It encourages and accompanies an eco-citizen practice that contributes to the reduction of congestion on the most used roads and the reduction of traffic-related pollutant emissions. ![](https://data.haute-garonne.fr/assets/theme_image/carpooling-img-illustration-1600x750px.jpg) In addition, carpooling makes it possible to supplement the public transport offer. It is a very useful solution in sparsely populated areas, such as rural areas, which cannot always be well served. In addition to this first phase of development, the Departmental Council has launched a second stage, in the form of a call for projects for the attention of the communes and inter-municipalities of Haute-Garonne. It will make it possible to label existing or future areas already developed by other local and regional authorities and to develop new ones, on the proposal of local and regional authorities.
