Numerical weather forecast model data
Description
The dataset contains forecasts of meteorological parameters from the ALADIN/SHMÚ numerical forecasting system in the grid network with a step of 4.5 km at selected vertical levels. Calculations are performed 4 times a day (00, 06, 12 and 18 UTC) for 72 hours. Outputs are available approximately 3-4 hours after the reference time (in UTC). The time granularity of the forecasts is 1 hour. One file is available for each hour of forecasting, which contains all the meteorological elements provided. The files are in a binary format called grib2, which can be processed, for example, using the freely available software ecCodes (https://confluence.ecmwf.int/display/ECC). The ALADIN numerical forecasting model is the primary source of data for the creation of short-term weather forecasts at the SHMI. It is developed within the international cooperation of the ACCORD consortium (www.umr-cnrm.fr/accord/) and within the regional cooperation of the RC LACE program (www.rclace.eu).
